10 Day Canadian Rockies Workshop

The Canadian Rockies is one of the most beautiful photography destinations and the late summer/early autumn is a precious time of the year. They contain some of the most breathtaking scenery in the world. This tour is focuses on the Canadian Rockies incredible landscapes, stunning waterfalls, marvellous canyons and colossal glaciers.

Join award winning blogger Marta Kulesza and award winning photographer Jack Bolshaw on their 10 day photography tour around the Canadian Rockies.

This excursion will primarily be aimed at capturing the most dramatic times of the day, sunrise and sunset. The tour also encompassed day time activities such as photography workshops, glacier hikes and boat cruises.

The 10 day photography tour will be focused on 4 major destinations. Canmore, Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper

Canadian Rockies Workshop Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival in Calgary


Upon arrival you will be transported from Calgary International Airport to our hotel where you’ll have some time to relax before the evenings group dinner (included) where we’ll discuss the itinerary for the next few days and prepare for the adventure to come. It’s a great opportunity to get to know the guides and the other participants.


Day 2 - 3 Exploring Canmore and the Bow Valley


In Canmore we will be exploring the Bow River and many of the reflecting lakes, ponds and reservoirs it has to offer. We’ll also be on the hunt of Moose as well. Make sure you’re ready to hit the road early at sunrise in these months is around 7am. The Three Sisters (pictured below), Ha Ling Peak and Kananaski’s Country will be some of the spots we’ll be photographing. The focus of the on location workshops held in Canmore will be Camera Basics and Compositional Theory.


Day 4 - 5 The Wonders of Banff National Park


Welcome to Banff National Park. The first National Park in the whole of Canada and one of the special too. Surrounded by stunning mountains on all sides Banff has a certain electricity incomparable to any where else. We will be going to such brilliant photography spots as Two Jack Lake (Pictured Below), Vermillion Lakes, and we will also be doing a boat cruise on Lake Minnewanka and a trip up the Sulphur Gondola. The focus of the tutorials here will be on Global Adjustments in Lightroom.


Day 6 - 7 Glorious Lake Louise


The Lake Louise area of Banff National Park is beautiful piece of land in the heart of the Canadian Rockies. Home to, not only Lake Louise, but Moraine Lake as well. One of the most iconic places in Canada. We will be visiting such spots as Lake Louise, Moraine Lake, Castle Mountain, Emerald Lake and Johnston Canyon. On this part of the tour we will be taking the time to learn about exposure blending in photoshop and tonal balancing.


Day 7 - 9 Jasper National Park


The Icefields Parkway, one of the most scenic roads in the world, is home to many incredible locations. Including stunning sub alpine lakes, deep canyons, stunning waterfalls, and one of the biggest ice fields in the world, The Columbia Icefield. On this stretch of road we will be going to Peyto Lake, Mistaya Canyon and Bow Lake. Also during the midday sun, we will have the opportunity to walk on the Athabasca Glacier. Further north on the Parkway are such spots as Sunwapta Falls and Athabasca Falls. Once we’ve arrived in Jasper we’ll be going to Maligne Lake (with a cruise to Spirit Island) and Pyramid Lake. In this portion of the tour we will be giving individual guidance and post processing critique on your final image that will ultimately be printed and posted to you as a memory of your time here.


Day 10 Return to Calgary


On our final day we will return back to Calgary driving the way we came through Lake Louise, Banff through Canmore and into Calgary finally stopping at the International Airport mid afternoon. You are more than welcome to be dropped off in any of the pre mentioned mountain towns if you are continuing your holiday.

Disclaimer:

Tour destinations will always be dependant on weather. Sub Arctic Zone 2 weather can be highly unpredictable but the guides will do their utmost to ensure your enjoyment. Due to the sometimes harsh weather conditions locations are subject to change without notice. However be assured that there’s plenty to see and do here. Participants who do not sign the waiver and have valid insurance for the duration of the trip will not be partaking.


Cancellation Policy:

If you cancel the workshop and the spot is filled then only a 300CA$ will be charged. Refunds will be made via bank transfer. If you cancel the tour and the spot does not fill then the following cancellation fees apply.

Less than 30 days: No refund Less than

Less than 45 days: 50% refund

Less than 60 days: 75% refund

More than 60 days: Full refund minus the 300CA$ service fee.
